Professional photographer is pleasantly surprised After reading some of the negative reviews about picture quality I hesitantly bought the Sony digital frame for my parents as a Christmas gift half expecting to have to send it back if the picture quality was less than excellent. I'm a professional photographer and use a Mac 30 inch monitor to view my work. I wouldn't be able to stand looking at subpar images. So with a sense of dread I just opened it up and put in one of my Flash cards with untoned images not worked in Photoshop straight from the card. They look beautiful! Do not hesitate to buy this.
excellent I got one of these as a gift for my office. The image quality is fantastic. I had it a year and decided to order one for home. I found a great price on amazon and was worried about the quality so I only ordered 1. After I got it I was so happy I went to order some more but there were none available at that price. I keep checking back tho.
Key feature missing. I would not buy if I knew that. DPFV1000 is a nice frame overall with very good picture quality but lacking of features makes it look like a first generation digital frame. The key feature missing is that the frame does not have the option which set of pictures to display. Once pictures are transferred to the internal memory the frame will display them all. To someone who have a lot of photos and would want to show one set but not another depending on occasions this is not the frame to buy.
Sony electronic picture frame This is a high quality electronic picture frame that holds lots of pictures and doesn't care whether or not I have worked on the photos in Photoshop. Strangely some frames will not show photos that have been corrected in Photoshop they want them straight from the camera. This is a great gift for your mother or motherinlaw.
Fantastic We gave this as a gift to our parents the frame looks great. Directions were well written very easy to load pictures from many sources and then have the frame random display from many folders. Excellent picture quality. The gift was a hit.
Best Photo Viewer Have bought a number of these Digital Photo viewers. This is the best. Have now had for over a year and still in perfect order. Plan to purchase another for my mom soon. I really like the schedule on and off function. Easy to get pictures in the unit also.
Who knew? I loaded the device with hundreds of jpgs for my wife all pretty much from the same digital camera source and the frame thought 1/4 of the images were corrupted or missing thumbnails etc. Reformatted the memory card tried again. Same issues.Downloaded a bunch of stock photos to the frame just to try photos from something else. Same general problem. The manual says to mark them so they aren't displayed anymore. I have a better idea. How about displaying the damn photos that my OTHER brand digital frame has NO issue with. In fact i's amazing what this frame hasn't been able to read that everything else seems to.POS? Yep.
Good for what's currently out there This is probably the best if not one of the best dig pic frames on Amazon right now. The picture quality is good not great. The key thing is that it doesn't constantly freeze up like most other frames do. This is the 4th i've bought and the first thank goodness that i haven't had to return for freezing up. Overall worth the extra $.
Get one while you can Just picked one up from the Sony store in the mall. One warning to everyone get a Sony digital frame fast because this one and the upgraded X1000 have been discontinued by Sony. In fact the manager of the Sony Store told me that Sony is getting completely out of making digital photo frames no reason given just that they were no longer going to make any. Not sure what that does for my warranty but I picked up the floor model at the Sony store for basically 75% off msrp so I dont really care how long its lasts but it looks great so far. Loading pics onto it was a breeze. All you have to do is actually read for two seconds in the manual and it tells you everything you need to know if you do not have basic knowledge of all things electronic. Huge internal memory is great and takes all forms of memory sticks too so I'll never run out of place. And getting the 10 inch was well worth it I sit over 10 feet from where the frame is and have no problems seeing what I'm looking at.
Bitter Sweet This frame was a Christmas gift and has been out of the box for 30 minutes. I have one thing to say What a PAIN this frame is.First it's gorgeous and the images displayed look as good as you hope they will. But here's the problem It will not display ALL jpg images. It will display standard but not progressive jpg files. My only other photo frame Phillips did not have this problem.Second many thanks to the reviewer who figured out this is a standard vs progressive jpg issue. However how do you know what type your jpg is? You don'tuntil you either look at the save options with your photo program Paint Shop Pro for me or you have to view the file in the Sony frame if it's not standard it will display only as a ? question mark not as the image or even as a thumbnail. A quick scan while in the frame's index view will show you all the nondisplaying files. How to fix? Using the Sony frame Index viewer identify the photos with a ?. But since the photo file name is not displayed in Index view you have to look at the properlydisplaying pictures on either side of the ? and crossreference it to your computer to figure out which picture file is bad. Once identified go to your computer's photo program open the bad file resave it as a standard jpg and then retransfer it back to the Sony frame. If you have a bunch of nondisplaying files as I do this can be a VERY TIME CONSUMING process. Here are the steps to load displayable files1 Select photos for xfer from your computer to your frame and make the xfer I used the frame's internal memory via USB. Unplug USB cable.2 Select Index view frame and search for ?. If you're like me you have a bunch of ? files.3 Since ? file names are not labeled in the Index view use your computer's Explorer to look at all your photo files and figure out which ones aren't displaying by comparing them to the ones that display properly in the Index view.4 Once identified move all files to your photo program and one by one save as standard. If you're lucky your photo program has a batch feature and you can do all at once.5 Replug USB cable. Delete all files from your photo frame it's easier to do it this way then delete the ? files one by one.6 Reload all your files from your computer to your Sony frame. Be careful not to reload the files that wouldn't display previously.7 Unplug USB cable and look at your Index view. If you're successful you won't have any more ? in your Index view.I've only done this for one photo to verify the process works and it does.
