Transcend 20GB Digital Photo Album Mixed blessing

Transcend 20GB Digital Photo Album
Transcend 20GB Digital Photo Album Read more...

Flawless digital picture storage I recently received the Transcend Digital Photo Album as a gift and could not be more thrilled with it. I used it during my sister's wedding as a repository for all our guests' digital pictures and for my own pictures. Because it accepts a variety of cards I was able to download pictures from any camera! The download time is fairly quick and the device could not be simpler to use. The screen is huge and has excellent resolution. I enjoyed the remote feature for playing slideshows on any television. All in all this device is an amazing asset to anyone who enjoys taking digital pictures and collecting pics from others. When my card was full of pictures I uploaded them and cleaned the card. It was truly a blessing not have to worry about running out of storage room.
Good but not great I first tried a video iPod and found it to be completely unusable even though Apple claimed the Sony Camera listed was tested. So I was forced into getting the only available alternative which was the transcend photo album. It's good but really clunky in design and usability. While it has a multicard reader connection you never 'really' know the card is seated properly. It should 'click in' the way a memory stick in a Sony Camera does. Also the current level of software implies you can select a copy location but it always defaults to the /copy folder regardless of how many other folders you created with a computer. In addition after one day the cheapo transformer they sent with it died. After contacting their tech support I was told to go and buy one at Radio Shack no warrantee on the transformer. This does not bode well for a device I expect to travel with. It's a good thing Amazon had a easy way to get it replaced or else I would have not been a happy customer. Finally you will be dissappointed with the screen resolution compared to the iPod. If Apple ever gets their act together and makes putting photos directly on the video iPod easier then Transcend has an obsolete product.
Mixed blessing The first time I used my Transcend box for photo storage was on a three week trip to Alaska. The device performed perfectly and enabled me to take 700 photos with two .514 gb memory cards. I was thrilled with it. The second time we used the device we took it on a trip to Africa. We brought only two memory cards with us since this method worked so well the first time. Unfortunely the transformer died on our first day and I could not buy additional cards in Africa to fit our camera. I spent a whole vacation day tracking down a Kodak shop in Nairobi to transfer my pictures to CD so I could reuse my memory cards. I have since learned that the cheap transformer plug was to blame and I have not been able to replace it with anything since.

Smartparts 8 Inch Syncpix Digital Picture Product works well until it breaks

Smartparts SPX8 8-Inch Syncpix Digital Picture Frame
Smartparts SPX8 8-Inch Syncpix Digital Picture Frame Read more...

  • Customizable slide shows; Audio MP3 playback
  • 8-inch (diagonal) viewing surface; built-in memory card reader
  • Housed in an ultra-slim case with a rich espresso-tone wood frame
  • One-step picture transfers; intuitive interface
  • Store and organize 3000 photos; 256 MB internal memory

  • Problems at first but figured out solution and now works great I've read several reviews for this digital frame and similar ones made by SmartParts where the unit turns off frequently or even doesn't turn on. Mine did the same thing after I loaded the first group of pictures on it. Sometimes it turned off after several minutes sometimes it only turned off when I went to the settings menu. I was even more frustrated when I read about the same problem for other SmartParts Digital Frame owners. Then I realized that the light sensor setting that turns it off in low light must be set to ON by default. I had to turn the unit on in a very brightly lit room to keep it on. I am not sure where the sensor is but it seemed to work better when I had the back of the unit towards the light. Then I was finally able to get in to the settings menu and turn the light sensor setting to off.
Consumer Reports is Wrong I've had this frame for a while and although it's okay for still pictures beware if you want to display video clips. The video would not play directly from a flash drive only from an SD card and then without any sound. I tried recoding my video clip to different formats and only the uncompressed .avi file copied from the camera would play. Calling the 800 number provides a recommendation to email for faster service. Any response by email takes at least a day with the answers never seeming to match the questions. The web page provides a tutorial for a firmware upgrade without any link to download the actual firmware upgrade file. I have a feeling this company consists of one person working part time out of their garage. I bought this originally based on the Consumer Reports rating and they really got it wrong.
Product works well until it breaks This product works nicely until it breaks. It is quite fragile.
save your money This frame has been the biggest waste of money and time. The company is no longer in business and there is obviously no tech support. The frame uploaded pictures initially but we have been unable to edit those first pictures from the frame. When connected to my computer it forces a crash. Please do yourself a favor and buy a reputable frame from a nonchinese company.
Don't rotate pics No instructions with this frame but what I found was that depending upon the camera used pictures I'd previously rotated on my computer in a separate photo program which is how I like to store them right side up were automatically rotated again. So a tip is to NOT rotate first. On a separate note. Had the frame for 1 year when pictures started denegrating on the builtin memory. i.e. streaks across the pictures where they only partially painted. I deleted the pictures off and recently reloaded so I'll see how long that works.
No customer support I purchased an SP8EM for my sons last year. Nice wooden frame and worked OK for about 10 months. Screen went blank and no option phone number or tech support capabilities exist with this company so beware.
Excellent pictures for the last 4 years! I have owned 2 Smart Parts digital picture frames for 4 years and 2.5 years respectivly. They run all day every day. I used to turn them off at night but it has been years since I bothered. I am very pleased with them. The ones I own are the SPX8 and the SPX7E.Yes the company is just assembling components from other manufactures. However if you know the electronics industry you know this is common. And they probably don't have much in the way of customer support. On the other hand this is a $100.00 photo frame just how much support is really needed? I have never called Smart Parts so I do not have any first hand experience of their customer service. The frames are easy to use and the picture quality is excellent. The frame has several folders that you can store photo albums in. That allows you to keep your Christmas photos in one folder and vacation photos in another and switch between the two. I also use one of the folders to keep all the pictures in so I can see them all scroll by instead of just the photos from vacation Christmas or whatever. The autosizing software also works well. Yea it takes a while to resize 500 photos. Be patient grasshopper. It is worth the wait.Recently the older of the 2 frames the SPX8 stopped working. Since I have both I tried plugging the power cord from the other one into the SPX8. Sure enough the problem wasn't the frame but the 12 volt power cord. It was harder than it needed to be to find a 9VDC 2A power adapter with the 5.5mm plug. I found one at []. Their part number is 1952847 and the cost was $15.95. I thought that was pretty reasonable for a frame that has been on for over 1200 consecutive days.
Died after a year My experience coincides with two camps of reviewers I see here phenomenally good quality for a digital frame but then it dies after only a year. The frame has been stellar in its display of digital pictures though its interface is irritatingly unintuitive but you can live with it because the display is so good. Then inexplicably roughly twelve months after I got it it would not turn on again. I've confirmed that it's the frame not the power adapter. For the price it should not fail so soon.
Nice for a digital photo frame newbie This is the first digital photo frame I've purchased. I had no prior experience with them.I found it easy to use. You can take pictures on vacation and come home and pop them right into the frame to view them. There is also internal memory that will store some photos without needing the camera card.If you like you can take photos from your computer and put them on the frame either with a camera card or a USB cable. That isn't hard either.Oh and this photo frame is brown which I LOVE! So many digital frames are black which doesn't go with my decor. The only flaw I've found is that it claimed to be 'motion sensitive' and would turn itself off when no one is there. That doesn't seem to happen. I've left it on all night and in the middle of the night it is still running. But that is a minor complaint. I'm happy with this product.
Good picturehorrible ease of use. The SPX88inch frame has nice pictures but the software is the biggest piece of garbage. In a time that programs are becoming very user friendly and advance the software and firmware from Smart Parts is taking a step backwards 10 years. It's like working on Windows 311 in todays environment. In trying to upgrade the firmware they list two files but hyperlink to the first file is broken and you can't download it. You can download the second file but it doesn't work though it is supposed to more recent versions.I also have bigger fingers and using the rocker switch on the top is very inconvenient. If I had to do it over I would avoid any Smart Parts frames.I consider myself a competent computer person and love most technology except this digital frame.

  • Declining Tecnology One day owner! The vendor is still updating the firmware but the AIOS is at the end of its life. The XIOS is the new product in town. If you only want to stream video its fine. But I wanted to store video on a 2TB internal hard drive. The transfer rate over a wired network is DEAD SLOW. The user interface is also not for the faint to heart. Just getting files on the device is a pain. The owner's manual is a joke and you really need to get a copy of the FAQ's off the vendors website. Even with that anything more than just viewing video is not intuitive. This device is more of a geek hobby item is not ready for primetime. Yes I'm a geek and it's not the type of playing I want to do.Back in the box it goes and back to Amazon.

Beats the hell out of the NEO TV 550 I've struggled with being an owner of the Netgear NEO TV 550. Terrible support with no firmware updates as promised and Netgear has let hundreds of owners down. That isn't the case with this product! I spent quite a bit of time trying to find a replacement and felt that at this price it was a nobrainer. The only drawback is that the device shines when you install an internal hard drive. I installed a 2 TB 5400 stays cooler RPM hard drive and hooked it up via USB 3.0 and transferred all my BD file folders and hooked it up to my TV and it scanned and was ready to go. ISO images don't work as well. I simply copied the front box art to the root folders and it instantly recognized the images and displayed everything perfectly. The NEO does support BD menus but I could care less about that. It played the movies smoothly and perfectly right from the start. The one drawback is that the only way you can stream from your PC over your home LAN is by going to the file folders and know which file to load. They need to get this worked out and will have the ultimate device. I own a ROKU XS so the available apps don't compare and nothing works as good as the Roku when it comes to streaming. It's so nice to not deal with a device that doesn't freeze up or get recognized by my TV. Since this device is open architecture there are many other 3rd party firmware options not like the NEO.
An excelent Media Center but consider better if you buy it for the extras my issues USB 3.0 and Networking I bought the pivos and selected it over other options many other Media Centers cost pretty much the same now because all the offerings but it has been dissapointing me in many fronts but my main concerns are the following.1. The built in USB 3.0 port is reported to exist to use the Pivos as an enclosure you should use the USB 2.0 ports to use an USB 3.0 external hard drive. At first I believed that this unit will take the most of my USB 3.0 3 TB My Book. But it looks like it can be only connected to the USB 2.0 ports so It is very missleading the USB 3.0 support claim I was not able to find a USB 3.0 cable to test connect the My Book disk to the USB 3.0 port in the pivos but I found statements about this NOT being possible.2. I have problems accessing the pivos from my computers. The pivos is attached by ethernet to the Internet Router. I've tried the following Many ethernet cables Accessing from Windows and Linux Ethernet and Wireless connections Windows XP and Windows 7 Desktop laptop Firmware versions original official update and semiofficialTo discard pivos performance I have done all test with the unit doing absolutelly nothing no playback. The wired computer tests have been done with the computer connected to the same Internet router the pivos is connected to. I even switched the pivos and the computer cables ports on the router to discard router failure.I have no issues sharing files between all my three computers.Sometimes I can see the Pivos shares painfully browse files and folders but I can't copy files to and from the pivos. I tried ping but it starts to fail with packets of 100 bytes and never response with packets from 1000 bytes. At first I was unable to browse internet but the firmware update 3.0.1.7 fixed something but slow and the semiofficial 3.0.1.7 R19 made the internet browsing much better.
Really good player Minor glitch intermittent This is a great replacement to my HTPC I previously had. It boots up quick and plays everything I have thrown at it even things that were not playable via VLC Player. I only had the HTPC to play/stream across my home network. gigabit.Pros* Plays every format I have with no issues..I have everything from AVI MP4 MKVetc.
Fantastic Player I bought this because of the hot swap HDD. its a great feature since i can sync with my PC. The multiple input options are a plus.Off the bat the unit is sleek and attractivelooks much nicer than a cable box. The remote is quite detailed and slightly sluggish as most are. I recomend using HDMI for better quality. So far I haven't used networking but I am enjoying not having to use multiple DVD's.
Allaround media player Plays everything has good FW updates and custom FWs decent speed. If you want to store your media in the player this is the one. I use my 15TB regular SATA drive. It can also play from windows shared folders or USB drives perfectly. Subtitles audio channels never caused any problems. The cooling fan could be somewhat more silent but is more then tolerable.
jumbo sized version of patriot box office If you already have a Patriot Box Office media player you may want to pass on this one. Although a bit larger to hold 3.5 drives the Pivos seems to have much of the same internals as the PBO. Both have trouble playing the same files and both are slow at detecting attached drives even internal ones. Also both have the same web interface to their builtin torrent downloader. The main difference between the Pivos and the PBO is the Pivos's ability to accept internal hard drives up to 3TB in size. The PBO can only accept drives up to 1TB. Supposedly the Pivos can properly play BluRay images and can play the navigation menus as well as the movies. This is true but only for some BluRay images. If it doesn't like them it simply will not play them at all.
Plays many file formats does everything else badly. Pros1 Plays many file formats.Cons1 Worst remote ever. It does everything badly.2 Cooling system not effective. Expect your drive to die quicker because of high temp.3 UI is clunky and slow.4 Network speeds are incredibly slow. writing to disk slow but streaming from the disk is ok. Note this appears to be a fault in the chip used and can't be fixed with software update!5 User manual is a joke.6 This product seems to be near the end of it's life so updates to firmware will probably stop being made.SummaryThis product has great specifications but does not do any of them well with the exception of playing most file formats. For reference I have owned and used WD tv Roku Apple tv Linux htpc and windows media center.

  • Instax Mini vs Polaroid 300 Film As someone has mentioned before this film is compatible to Polaroid 300 cameras. So if you want to save a couple dollars on instant film you should definitely purchase Instax Mini film instead of the polaroid one.
A++ unit was as described and it works great with mini 25. i will definitely buy more. i will probably run out of it quick.
    Excellent Good film.
Happy customer Order was shipped promptly not to mention I received it a week earlier than the expected delivery date! What you see is what you get which is 2 packs of 10 mini instant film sheets. It wasn't expired and came in good condition with awesome packaging it came in a box with little plastic cushions of air. I think I was more excited to see those than the instax mini film haha. I bought this for my Diana F+ and it works perfectly.
Great shots The film comes out instantaneously and with multiple options available when shooting different lighting situations should not be too much of a hassle. However the film is pricey and isn't that great at anything taken at more than 510 feet. I wouldn't really use it for landscapes or architecture but if you have money to burn and you want to try different types of shots this is a fun film to play with..great for closeups and face portraits.
    FITS FUJIFILM INSTAX 7S!!
Fujifilm INSTAX MINI Twin Pack Instant Film I bought this film for my grand daughters camera. I would say it is a good film product for the mini camera and they have fast shipping at a fair price.
Neat! I have finally found the instant film. Best film to buy and also comes in 20. It was exactly how I expected it to be and instead of having 10 it came in 20 instant film.
A good one Iam enjoying the camera that I bought from Amazon. I like getting the pictures so quick. In the past 2 weeks have been using it a lot because I adopted a little Chihuahua and have been taking a lot of pictures. I am also pleased with the Fujifilm as the pictures are coming out great.
Film I can perfectly say my film came on time. It was also the correct film to for my Fujifilm Instant Camera.
