  • Do Not Buy white screen of death In short this picture frame worked fairly well for about a yearwhich is somewhat longer than most people who've had the white screen of death. My inlaws frame only lasted about 3 months before the white screen of death appeared. Kodak will replace it at your shipping expense if this happens within a year. You also will wait about 34 months for your refurbished one to arrive. Kodak's warrantee won't cover this after a year. Our frame just stopped working after 14 months so we are just out of luck. Support is less than stellar with no weekend hours.Do yourself a favor and don't buy this frame because its not built to last. If you want a frame that will only last about a year though this is probably a good one for you but a $100 or $150 dollar frame certainly should last longer than a year.Google around and see for yourself how many people have the white screen of death issue from which the frame can never recover from.
Died after 4 months of use This frame was a gift for my inlaws. They loved the product until last month when it quit working. Now we are trying to figure out how to get it fixed or replaced but we aren't sure that's possible. It's pretty obvious to me why Kodak went bankrupt they keep making crappy products.
picture frame purchased this frame as a gift for a greatgrandmother. they love the ability to get pictures almost immediately from the grandkids.
Fantastic This digital photo frame is amazing I got it for mothers day and she absolutely loves it! We can just email her a pic directly to the frame.
Easy and nice Have to say my mother is greatly enjoying the frame and the pictures being able to be loaded easily. I manage the frame from a remote site which helps make certain nothing by mistake gets reset on the frame. That is why I am now buying another.
Love this way to share photos Easy to set up and easy to use. Our family are big picture people and love to send pics to this frame. My friends and family from all over send pics for us to enjoy. I highly recommend this as a gift especially for grandmothers.
Very consumer friendly This frame is GREAT! I love that it has WiFi so I can email my pictures directly to it without having to load them on a memory card first. I also love it that I can adjust the display select specific pictures and control how they are displayed right from my computer without having to toggle through a menu screen on the frame itself. It also saves energy by turning itself off when it doesn't detect activity in the room and turns back on when there is movement.
Great for Grandparents I bought this product as a Mother's Day gift for my mom. I have to admit I was a little worried about the ease of use for her but it was a breeze. I think it took me 30 minutes to both set up the wireless and add about 200 pictures to the frame. She has received all of the pictures that family has sent to her without any problems. The frame itself is very nice looking and the picture is BEAUTIFUL.
great addition this frame offers all the things i was looking for. the display is great but the wifi makes it outstanding. i highly recommend it.
Kodak Pulse Frame White Screen of Death Bought frame as Christmas present for my wife. For 6 months it performed well great picture. Then it lost my wifi password and when I went to reenter it the setup screens had buttons/icons but no text explaining function of button. Was advised by support to perform a hard reset which I did. When it came back up some of the pictures were apparently corrupted on download. When I performed another reset to download the pictures again the screen froze with the white screen of death. This seems to be a not uncommon problem with these screens. I am now awaiting instructions to ship it back. We shall see if Kodak replaces it or not. In any case hard to recommend this product.

  • Wireless access to pictures on your home computer and leading photo sharing sites featuring Kodak Gallery and Flickr with built-in Wi-Fi capability
  • Play your videos or listen to your favorite MP3’s with the frame’s built-in speakers.
  • 10-inch high quality LCD with 16:9 aspect ratio; KODAK Color Science gives your pictures crisp details and vibrant colors
  • Store up to 4000 of your favorite pictures directly on your frame’s 512 MB of internal memory
  • 2 SD card slots are available to allow you to have extra memory to view more pictures

  • 169 ratio a dealbreaker as others have written in the past the 169 ration of the screen is very frustrating. you either have to fit to screen which will cut off parts of your photos and make them look like they are not centered or you have to put up with 1 inch black lines on either side of the screen to get to 43 which leaves you with nothing but a strange looking 8.5 inch frame. my suggestion would be to pass on this and get something with a proper aspect ratio.
Has it's issues It looks nice but it is not without it's issues. My husband is super tech savvy. He never could figure a way to get flickr to work with this frame. The Kodak website worked fine. However my MIL who received this as a gift has discovered some pictures that I did not put on the Kodak site. They were from a friend who shared her photos with me a while back. Weird thing is I can't access them through my account so I don't know how they showed up on the frame and I can't seem to take them off. I guess I need to talk to my friend and get her to take my email off of her account. Oy! It also does not grab new photos from the account until it is reset. By reset I mean that the whole frame turns off for a specified amount of time and then reboots up. We set it up to reset in the middle of the night but if the power goes out for some reason the clock has to be reset. Since we live 2400 miles away Grandma has to do it. This sort of defeats the purpose of setting it up so she doesn't have to learn all the confusing buttons. The idea was for her to get new pictures of the baby suddenly pop up on the screen. She could be walking by and see new pictures. A few of the times when it reset it went to the default internal pictures that came with the frame. You needed to go into the menu and make it look at the Kodak account again. We could never find a reason why it did that. Cute concept but it has a few flaws. Kodak needs to figure a way for the frame to check the online account more frequently to get updates rather then needing a timer set internally. They need to make it work better with flickr which is a free site. Using the Kodak site means that I have to make a purchase of photo prints every year from them to keep the account open. Otherwise they delete my pictures. Very coy Kodak and what a lovely way to make more money and screw the customer over. With the amount of money I spent on this frame I should be able to use the Kodak website for free to get the pictures. So if Grandma has no idea how to set up wifi much less a digital frame and can't understand what an online account is this is not the gift for her. If she is pretty savvy to fix issues then it might work out okay. And if you don't mind ordering prints from Kodak then go ahead. I can get them much cheaper through other websites so I will order the minimum requirement each year so I can keep the account open.
Not a good product This is my second Kodak frame. The previous on a 10 EX series died after about a year and a half. This W1020 reboots regularly without any input from we. The wireless is buggy and there is no software for Mac.It will go through short periods where it will not reboot by itself but they do not last very long. I have the latest firmware. The touch control on the edge of the frame is a nice idea but is poor in practice. The remote on the previous EX series frame was better. The image is good with good color. I would like better as I am a pro photographer but it is pretty good for what it costs.I replace the EX with a Pandigital Panel and it is rock solid although the color is not as good as the Kodak. No wireless on the Pandigital but for my application it is not needed. After many years of using Kodak products through film and early professional digital I don't think I will be buying another Kodak product.Kodak replaced my W1020 for the reboot problem. The new frame has issues with perfectly good files being corrupted when they are copied to the frame via usb. Files that are rotated one way on the computer are rotated differently on the frame. Sometimes the image will be rotated and sometimes not after I change it on the frame itself. This is a buggy product. The Pandigital frame that was much cheaper and it just works. Don't buy a Kodak frame.
Great for FrameChannel I bought this frame for my mother who does not own a computer. She lives with my sister and has WiFi in the house. I configured the frame to connect to the free online service called Frame Channel. Family and friends can email pictures to my Mom's Frame Channel account and those pictures will just show up on my Mom's frame. I can logon to the Frame Channel account and manage the pictures if necessary. Frame Channel also offers nice features like weather news etc. that will show up on the frame.I don't like to install PC software that comes with products like this. Generally it's not very good and screws up other things. If you want a setup like I have pictures from the Frame Channel service and nothing else don't install the PC Software.
Hardware quality issues I purchased 4 of these for relatives because I thought it would be a great way to share photos with them without having to instruct them how to get the pictures on the frame. Mission accomplished at first but then the hardware quality issues started.Within a year I had to return 3 of the 4 frames. One would lock up and continuously reboot itself. The second developed a vertical green bar on the screen. The third lost the menu option to connect wirelessly and even a factory reset and firmware reload wouldn't help.Kodak honored the warranty with no issues. I received 3 refurbished replacement frames and tested them. Of the three one of them didn't boot. I had to send that one back as well. I just received it in the mail and it's already having sporadic problems where the screen will flicker or an hourglass will come up and never disappear. If it weren't for the hardware issues I would really like this frame.
Perfect Magic Picture Frame for the grandparents Like many others I did lots of research looking for wireless digital frames with the idea of giving them as gifts to my parents and inlaws and having them constantly show photos of the kids and grandkids with little to no effort on the receiver's part. The picture quality is great and the touchscreen controls are sleek and invisible. This frame has many features but I'm focusing this review on how I set it up to do what lots of other people want it to do using Framechannel and Flickr. Here's what I did1.
Best of what's out there at a reasonable price I was able to purchase for $125 at a local electronics store. For the price the features are exceptional and the picture quality is good. I would recommend this with some caveats as noted below. Here are some tips1. Follow the install sequence precisely to get it set up correctly out of the box. Install the software first and completely before trying to connect the frame to the network.2. The software is quirky and crashes. Use the repair function on the supplied CD after crashes to repair. While time consuming this does get it working smoothly eventually. After it was fully set up there have been no additional crashes.3. If you have many pics and videos on your computer that you'd like to access via wifi I'd recommend sticking to the pics only. To avoid some of the problems reported by others I'd recommend sorting your pics into folders by year or some manageable size folders of 26 GB. I used photoshop select and copy the pics by year copying them to an internal hard drive C folder from an external which seemed to help with wifi access faster?. Then from the frame access the pics by folder. This helps avoid the problem of crashes that occurs if you try to access all wifi pics at once. This is not an ideal solution since I had hoped to have the frame access all of my network pics without intervention but it does work.Overall the frame is a good value but do not expect perfection and plan on spending a couple of hours to get it working to your satisfaction.
Shows a lot of promise The W1020 works well enough for me. I see plenty of things that could use improvement but in this case I think it's because any product that breaks new ground opens up a lot of possibilities. The 169 aspect ratio is wrong for a photo frame and the resolution is a bit coarse when you look too closely but it's good enough. I wish Kodak had included the ability to connect to Windows shared folders on my network but there are several other ways to accomplish the goal of streaming photos to the frame. I wish that the FrameChannel feed supported slide transitions the way local slide shows do but overall I'm impressed with it. It's maybe a bit overpriced considering that other frames are getting WiFi and touch borders now but at least Kodak is showing some 2ndgen improvement.
A sluggish flawed Digital Frame So I bought this frame for my wife. The idea was that I would pull the images wirelessly from our server and display them. I could update the folder on the server and the pictures would show up on the frame. Reality is that the frame can not communicate with standard servers for file service. So no sweat. Just use the special software and serve them from there. Hmm when it powers up it forgets that you told it to pull from the remote PC and pulls the demo pictures from frame memory. I gave up so wireless was a complete bust. No use at all for pictures. Now I put a digital card in a begin transferring pictures over. Oh my it was incredibly slow on the transfers. After waiting through 20 or so pictures I gave up again.
Almost Easy Enough for Grandparents I bought 3 of these in the past 6 months one for myself and one for each set of inlaws. The touch frame is better than a remote but not quite as good as I imagine a touch screen to be the only touch screen frame I found was very expensive. Most of the setup is very easy once you figure out how to scroll hint 1 touch directly under the up and down arrows rather than the nearest lighted spot on the frame as these do not necessarily line up Hint 2 the up and down arrows also scroll right and left when needed. I setup the frames to turn on and off automatically in hopes that the daily cycle would prevent any need of tinkering by the grandparents. I also went onsite to setup the link to their networks. Some have mentioned that network setup has been a problem but I was 3 for 3 and no problems at all.

  • nice to gift nice stuff for gift!!!my sister and her husband are very happy with this new digital frame.
Really like this picture frame We really like this picture frame. Took us a little getting used to for the frame channel and picasa but once we got the hang of it we're doing great. Good picture quality.
A good deal but not as easy to use I recently bought a couple of these Toshiba wireless frames as Christmas gifts for my inlaws. The purpose of buying them was so that my husband and I could regularly upload new pictures of ourselves and our new baby and they would be able to see them instantly! It turns out that these frames only *partially* serve that purpose. The pros very nice picture nicesized display screen no problem with pixelation as was mentioned in previous reviews easy to use set up menu option to view photos/ music/ videos from either online or the frame's memory or an external memory source also and automatic on/off feature you can set it to turn on/off every day on a timer. The biggest con is that when you turn the frame on or when you set the autoon feature it starts off by showing the promo ads. You then manually have to go in each and every time and specify from where you want the frame to access the photos.
Excellent product and key to the next generation internet I bought this product because I became intrigued with the capabilities of digital photo frames and the various ways they might be used beyond showing kid photos to Granny. This is my first wireless WiFi digital frame capable of receiving content from the internet. My first conclusion the difference between standalone and internet connected is night and day. You can assemble large albums of digital photos and display them on the digital photo frame using internal mememory or external memory cards on both standalone and wifi frames with dramatic and pleasing results. But with wifi you can connect to an internet frameserver and direct a continuous stream of content photos or text pages similar to PowerPoint slides and achieve an amazing and virtually free continually updated 24 x 7 information appliance. It is one of the most amazing underappreciated sleeper technologies I have come across in a long time. The Toshiba frame is more or less preprogammed to access only two internet frame services FrameChannel or Picasa. But FrameChannel is a portal which allows you to combine many other frame feeds into your own custom frame channel and direct it to your own digital photo frame. So you can get a combined frame with includes things like personal photos that you have uploaded to your FrameChannel account photos from internet photo servers like Bing local weather news headlines from various news services including Time Magazine New York Times Reuters etc. etc. Picasa is an internet photo album which allows you to upload and organize you own photos and make them available on the internet. The Toshiba photo frame allows you to receive and display a stream of photos from up to three different Picasa accounts. The Toshiba photo frame I received was a first class product in every way.
Excellent Digital Frame Pros Wifi with weather stocks etc updates! Connects to Framechannel Facebook Picasa Flickr etc. Remote Super fast setup. It took me less than 15 mins to get it out of the box and set up the wifi and get it started. Looks very sleek. Havent tried this but people can email you pictures that will automatically load up on this. Excellent to gift it to someone who is not very tech savvy. You can give it to your mom/grandmom and set up an account and keep updating it. So they will keep seeing your new pictures. Very good idea.Cons Does not resize images to fit the screen correctly. Heads get chopped off if the orientation of the picture does not match the frame size/resolution. You can't really hang it in Portrait style. But I guess that would be a problem with all frames in this size. Would have loved it if you could use it with Batteries instead of having to plug it in always. You have to sign up for Framechannel to benefit the online access.
Best picture frame yet! My Fiancee asked for a digital picture frame for her birthday so I did a bit of research and looking at actual frames at retail stores. She loves to check her friend's Facebook photos every day so when I saw that FrameChannel was an embedded feature of this frame I decided to take a risk. When it arrived I set it up with some pictures and videos in memory like normal frames but also set up a FrameChannel account for her. I set it up by my TV and was instantly addicted to it random friends' pics weather news whatever you want. I liked it so much I asked for and got one for myself for Christmas! If you want your own pictures displayed overandover with the nagging feeling you should really load new ones on then by all means by a cheaper frame. If you want your favorite pics and 10x more features especially the uptotheminute photo postings then this is the frame to buy. It never gets staleAnd of course the picture quality ease of use support etc etc are all top notch.
Digital Frame Wire less feature I have not tried so far so can't comment but overall I got what I was expecting.
FrameChannel bites the dust Be aware that FrameChannel has shut down. This device is no longer a digital media frame it's just a digital picture frame now. The price should drop like a rock.
Excelent This frame totally rocks I got it for my mom for her birthday/xmas present and it looks fantastic the screen is great and the options it has to work the slides shows are smooth also. I have not tried the wireless yet as I am scanning our old pictures onto a card for the frame.
Connections to Web services don't work The product description is no longer accurate. A big part of the appeal of this photo frame was its ability to display photos from the Framechannel Web photo service which could draw them from anyplace else but Framechannel has shut down. This Toshiba frame is supposed to be able to connect to one other Web photo service Google Picasa but I have been unable to get that to work. I follow the simple directions but the frame doesn't connect to the Picasa service. A Web search reveals that others are also unable to connect to the Picasa service. This frame has many other fine qualitiesit is very attractice the photos look good and the user has a lot of control over display settingsbut I purchased it for its abililty to connect to Web photo services so I'm disappointed. This would be a 5 star product if connections to Web photo services worked as advertised.

JPEG, TIFF, and BMP Compatibility provide a multitude of options for your favorite photos.Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) Capable with WPS Security and FrameChannel Support for easy online sharing of photos.MP3/WMA Playback with Built-in Stereo Speakers allow you to accentuate slideshows with audio.MPEG 1/2/4 Video for viewing video clips without a computer.10.1-inch (measured diagonally) 15:9 Widescreeen with 800 x 480 Resolution and 400:1 Contrast Ratio. The Toshiba DMF102XKU Digital Media Frame is far from your average photo frame. Sure it displays all your favorite memories directly from your memory card or its internal 1GB memory, but Toshiba has taken frames one step further. Thanks to built in Wi-Fi and Framechannel, which offers over 1,000 channels of premium content, the new Toshiba Digital Media Frames can link to your favorite online photo sharing services directly through your wireless router. This means that you can view not only your favorite Picasa, Flickr or Webshots photo albums but also your Facebook photos, and your selected friends Facebook photos – all the albums you select, will display directly on your frame without having to turn on your PC! Best of all, your friends can send you photos from anywhere that can automatically be displayed on your frame. Imagine being on vacation and sending mom your photos, without her ever turning on her PC.The Toshiba Digital Media Frames are so versatile that in addition to becoming your family’s favorite photo album, you can set it up to keep you updated with the latest weather reports, news, stocks and sports, even if you happen to be a fan of British Football! You simply select the content that you want to display, when and how often you want to see it and Framechannel will send it to your frame!Any Digital Photo Frame can display your pictures.
